Connections

Connections count. These may be connections between cities and people, connections between cause and effect or connections that link an experienced manager to profit. It is therefore fitting that we chose The New York Connecting Railroad Bridge as our firm’s iconic image.

This bridge was conceived and sponsored by Alexander J. Cassatt, President of the Pennsylvania Railroad, at the end of the 19th Century. This bridge – along with the original Pennsylvania Station in Manhattan and Hudson and East River tunnels – was the keystone project in the Pennsylvania’s drive to connect the major metropolitan areas of Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, D.C. in a contiguous journey along the Pennsylvania Railroad.

By choosing Cheswold as the name of our company, we have honored Mr. Cassatt’s vision and recognized the value of transportation infrastrucure. Cheswold was the name of Mr. Cassatt’s estate where he resided during the time he led the Pennsylvania Railroad.

We have also chosen this monumental arch bridge to reflect our firm’s investment strategy. It reflects the emphasis our firm places upon selecting high density, infill locations that are well-served by our nation’s transportation infrastructure.
